Carole Joins Mission to State Capitol to Protect Funding for Safety-Net Programs
Designated funding for Safety-Net programs for Philadelphia region's 11,000 Jewish frail elderly are in danger of being drastically reduced due to the Commonwealth's huge budget deficit ($3 billion) for 2017-2018 plus proposed federal cutbacks. Social action advocates met with State Health and Human Services Secretary Ted Dallas, and Budget Secretary Randall Albright, to discuss the negative impact budget cuts would have on programs like Meals On Wheels (food delivery to seniors' households), five Jewish regional food banks, and housing subsidies – signature programs supported under the Jewish Federation umbrella.
