Former Vice President Joe Biden joined the Eastern Pennsylvania region Anti-Defamation League as the guest of honor at the ADL’s inaugural Beau Biden SHIELD Award Ceremony at the Riverfront in Wilmington, Delaware.
This award recognized 26 law enforcement professionals-both state and local police, detectives, fire marshals, US and county district attorneys, special agents of Federal Bureau of Investigation, from eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware. They were honored for extraordinary efforts fighting hate crimes, extremism, and terrorism and for protecting civil rights. The awards were named for the late Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, a tireless advocate for civil and human rights.
Law enforcement personnel were honored for four different cases.
Agents of the US Attorney’s Office, Michelle Morgan, and Special Agent Michael Goodhue, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, were recognized for their investigation and prosecution of Christian Womack and Rashida Brice for sex trafficking children by force, fraud, or coercion.
Over the past decade, ADL has trained more than 100,000 federal, state, local and military law enforcement officers on terrorism, extremism, and hate crimes.
