Foundation Contributes to Food for the Furloughed Emergency Relief

There are nearly 45,000 federal workers in the Philadelphia area and surrounding counties, including many TSA and IRS employees. Because of the recent government shut down, many of these people - who were furloughed or worked without pay for four weeks - faced hunger for the first time in their lives.

Philabundance, a premier hunger relief agency, rolled out a Food for the Furloughed emergency plan by opening an Emergency Market to distribute food every Wednesday for affected government workers during the shutdown and for two weeks after it ended.

Carole Landis Foundation responded with a contribution to the new Emergency Market.
