Foundation Supports New Afghan Refugees at Pop-up Food Pantry

Carole Landis Foundation granted Jewish Family and Children's Services (JFCS) for their "In Your Neighborhood" program, a mobile basic needs program for households that are low income and/or in crisis.

The grant supported the October 11 voyage to Oxford Circle in the Northeast, where Afghan refugees who recently arrived to Philadelphia were able to access free food, fresh vegetables, and culturally appropriate clothing. JFCS partnered with Nationalities Service Center who connected the evacuees with JFCS.

Thus far, the mobile unit has served more than 400 residents and made 11 voyages with six more scheduled before the end of the year.

The event was covered by four different news stations and aired on the 5:00pm and 6:00pm news feed.
