We're On the Move to Fight Hate

On October 10, 2021 thousands across the country will march to support diversity, equity and inclusion. They will stand up against hate-crimes, actions, or words targeted against any particular group or an individual.

The Foundation is a sponsor of the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) annual Walk Against Hate. It's not just a "walk" - it's an opportunity to "move" as an individual, family, group of friends, or community towards a future without antisemitism, racism and all forms of bigotry and hate.

Rather than one designated Philadelphia gathering place, as in past years before Covid, the 25 ADL chapters across the country are holding their own virtual and personal group walks on the same date. In the past, the walk always involved busloads of school students, but with the current Covid/Delta virus spread amongst school children, it is not appropriate to hold the traditional event.

Participants are forming their own teams - schools, religious organizations, businesses, community groups - to raise funding for ADL's many programs, including No Place For Hate programs in the schools. Registration is free, and the teams have set monetary goals. There are numerous corporate and foundation sponsorships.

Walkers can start in their own back yards, school yards, play grounds, parking lots - or just walk around the block with neighbors, or pedal your Peloton bike, or dance, or ride scooters or skate boards, or swim, or run.

The first Walk Against Hate started 10 years ago in Philadelphia, drawing 900 participants with diverse backgrounds and ethnicities who came together in solidarity to march up the Martin Luther King Drive.
