We Walked Against Hate

We walk for Unity. We walk for Diversity. We walk for Each Other. We walk against Hate.

The Carole Landis Foundation was a proud sponsor of the Anti-Defamation League’s 9th annual Walk Against Hate on May 19 at the Marine Parade Grounds at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia.

Hundreds of people from across the Delaware Valley participated in the event, which included a Diversity Expo featuring more than 30 local nonprofit organizations highlighting the important work they do within our community celebrating diversity, promoting equality and cross-cultural understanding, and protecting vulnerable populations.

Local luminaries were on stage, encouraging the walkers and spreading the message of love and taking care of each other. Presenters included Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, 6ABC anchor Sharrie Williams, Tastykake-tossing representatives from the Bearded Ladies Cabaret and the winner of the Princeton Prize in Race Relations, Washington Township high school senior Kayla Webster.

The walk itself was a festive 2-mile hike through the Navy Yard, complete with live music.

In addition to sponsoring the event, the Carole Landis Foundation team of walkers fundraised an additional $1,000.

Proceeds from the event support the ADL’s ongoing efforts to combat hate.
